Remedies for cough

When you have a cough due to cold, it is advisable to increase the liquid intake in your body. Here are some more tips to tackle a bout of cough in this weather:

- Drink plenty of water and preferably warm or hot water. Also, consume tea, coffee, soups etc.

- Avoid eating spicy and fried foods as it irritates the throat.

- Chewing cough lozenges is a good way to keep throat irritation at bay and thus, prevent cough.

- Add honey and lime juice in a warm glass of water with a pinch of pepper. Keep sipping this throughout the day.

- Keeping a clove in your mouth. This will help in preventing cough.

- Eating freshly sliced ginger is beneficial for treating cough.

- Drink a hot glass of milk with turmeric. This is an old and well-known remedy practised in Indian households.
